Fountain Rock Lime Kilns need your help. The Fountain Rock battery of lime kilns were built around 1872 by hand. Its battery was built into the side of hill to create silos and hearths to burn limestone that was being quarried out of the nearby limestone quarry. Many people owned and operated the quarry in its day. Six remaining kilns stand 20 feet tall, overlooking a water-filled quarry and boardwalk, which beautifully blend into and support the hidden habitat within the park. Over time, moisture has deteriorated and damaged the stone craftsmanship on the inner hearths and repair is necessary to restore the kilns. With your help the repairs can be made.
