Today was a beautiful sunny Sunday at Fountain Rock Park & Nature Center. Retired Park Naturalist Alice Nemitsas taught a girl scout troop a class on bugs and conducted a bug hunt in the park.
Inside the Nature Center, there was a steady stream of visitors. Trish Steele and Master Naturalist Intern Dawn Bullis answered questions and explained the exhibits of amphibians, reptiles and insects to our visitors.
Outside the Nature Center we had park visitors enjoying fishing in our trout pond as well as enjoying touring the lime kilns and walking our trails. We hope you were among our visitors today.
Save the date! The Frederick County Nature Council will sponsor it’s annual free Fishing Derby (for ages 7 to 12) on Sunday, May 5, 2013. Space is limited and pre registration is required. More details will be posted as they become available.
