A bee swarm is when a queen bee leaves the hive with worker bees to form a new bee hive. Usually the bees will leave the existing hive and swarm together in a large group at a nearby location. The bees then set out and find a new location for their new hive.
Come out and visit us at Fountain Rock Park & Nature Center this weekend and learn more about bees.
Want to know more? Just ask one of our staff or volunteers and they will be glad to help explain bee behavior. The Frederick County Beekeepers Association is also a handy resource. They can be found at http://frederickbees.org
