The Great Backyard Bird Count is an annual, worldwide, citizen-science program that brings together bird enthusiasts of all ages and levels of experience. It’s free and easy to participate, and open to anyone!
All you have to do is count birds at any location for at least 15 minutes on one or more days during the count (February 12th through the 15th). Then enter your sightings at www.BirdCount.org. Tens of thousands of volunteers participate every year, and their efforts help scientists track and monitor bird populations on a massive scale. To learn more about the program, visit the “Getting Started” page on BirdCount.org
Not Sure Where to Begin? Join us at the park this Sunday, February 14th and participate with a group led by experienced birders! We have a FREE bird walk through the park led by Keith and Beth Hamilton of Wild Birds Unlimited in Frederick. Then stick around to perform a bird count at the Nature Center bird feeders at 1:30pm with a park naturalist.
